DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM MANAGEMENT

Course Program

       The Department of Tourism Management aims to educate and train students for managerial positions in the field of tourism.After a one year preparatory school ,Alanya Faculty of Business Department of Tourism Management offers a bachelors of art degree  upon completion of an eight semester program. It aims to educate and train qualified manpower at the operational and managerial level for Turkish and worldwide tourism and the students will be  able to speak at least two foreign languages fluently and  work all around the world. The department awards bachelors degree after a 4 year (8 semester) plus English Prep education period. 

      In order to graduate from the department, students have to have 6 months of compulsory student work experience (internships) in the tourism and hospitality industry. The students complete their unsupervised industrial placement during summer holidays in tourism licensed organizations including  hotels, holiday villages, tour operators, travel agents, food and beverage firms, airways etc.Since the students are accepted as the candidate managers of the future they both take the occupational courses of the school as well as courses similar in content to the ones in Faculty of Business. Since Department of Tourism Management students have special lessons such as  Anatolian civilizations,food and beverage services and ticketing besides business management,tourism management ,computer studies . 

       Graduate students of the department   can work in the following positions: 

  • As hotel managers, front office managers, food and beverage managers, bar supervisors, waiters, reception supervisors, receptionists, room division managers, room division supervisors, etc. in accommodation companies;
  • As restaurant managers, restaurant chiefs, chief waiters, bar assistants, etc. in food and beverage companies;
  • As tour assistants, information officers, tour planners, etc. in travel agents and tour operators;
  • As shop managers, assistants, etc. in souvenir shops;
  • Graduates can work in the marketing, human resources, finance and accounting departments of tourism and hospitality organization.
  • Graduates can be employed in various departments of the Ministry of Tourism
  • Graduates may also work outside the tourism sector in such organizations as private banks, import-export companies and other private and governmental organizations.
  • Graduates can set up their own business with a small capital, like a hostel or bar business.
  • Also, opportunities for academic careers are provided for hard-working and willing graduates.
