Units

Infertility and In vitro Fertilization Unit

All methods of this branch are applied in this unit, which is the only unit in Mediterranean Region of Turkey. Artificial insemination with Es sperm, in vitro fertilization, microinjection methods, obtaining sperm by testicular biopsy, freezing embryo and sperm and ovarium shell thinning are the methods applied in this unit.

Laser Unit (FAT – Argon Laser)

In this unit, the secondary cataracts of the patients who have been applied eye pulp lens in their cataract surgeries and laser treatment of the patients – basically diabetic patients – who have eye pulp bleeding are made succesfully in a short time.

Hemodialysis

In this unit, which is the very first centre in our country’s Mediterranean Region, bicarbonate analysis could be applied by volumetric machines and there is hemofiltration possibility. Faculty Members follow patients. Specialist nurses in this branch and other personnel assist during treatment of patients. There are special machines and dialysis area for the patients who have hepatitis B and C.

Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD Clinic)

This is another unit, which our hospital is a leader in this area. Application of this method – since 1990 – starts by educating patients who have cronic kidney insufficiency.

Patients can communicate with doctors and nurses for 24Hours. If required, their treatment can be directed via. telephone. Nurses visit patients at home if required.

Automatic periton dialysis can be provided to some patients at home.

Bronchoscopy Laboratory

Lung tissue is examined via. illuminating devices in this laboratory and biopsy or pleural biopsy is taken if necessary. Accumulated liquid (Torasynthesis) in the lung is drained.

Respiratory Function Tests Unit

In this unit lung capacity is measured, allergy tests, allergy asthma and allergic rinit tests are made.

Burn Unit

Patients of this unit are given treatment and care by the nurses and the specialist doctors in intensive care conditions, private and sterilized rooms in coordination with Reanimation and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Departments.

Physical Treatment Unit

Faculty Members, physiotherapists and orthopedists take care of the out-patients and in-patients of this unit. The physiotherapists of this unit also work as respiration therapists for intensive care patients.

Rehabilitation Unit

In this newly established unit, all rehabilitation infrastructres for post traumatic and other patients are available.

Central Research Laboratory

As being a university hospital, Akdeniz University Hospital provides a research laboratory to its faculty members with all facilities and the most advanced and high technology equipment.

Educational Materials Development and Training Unit

In this unit medical students can improve their educational knowledge on several medical procedures by using phantoms, models and computers. A full TV studio and audio-visual education matreials are also available in this unit.
