The faculty consists of the departments of Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Geological Engineering. Optional preparatory classes in English can be taken in the departments of Environmental Engineering and Civil Engineering, and in German in the Mechanical Engineering and Geological Engineering departments. The faculty aims to train students in the acquisition of the up-to-date knowledge and skills required to fulfil the needs and expectations of industry and society, and to play a leadership role in their future progress. The faculty has developed educational programmes in accordance with the most modern standards, has contributed to the advance of chemical technology through research, and to the application of knowledge and technology for the benefit of society. The faculty has been engaged in the education of a new generation of creative, proactive engineers capable of working effectively within teams to meet the challenges of modern engineering practice, as well as giving them a solid background in the fundamental principles of engineering. They are trained to apply the basic concepts of engineering to the analysis, design, operation and control of systems, units, and processes that meet the performance, cost, safety, and quality requirements demanded of them. The result is graduates who become life-long learners, with high research motivation and the skills to benefit from contemporary information resources, while possessing the broadened perspectives needed to address the problems of the environment, social issues, ethics, and the responsibilities and challenges of professionalism.
