RESIDENCE PERMIT 

All foreign students who live longer than 1 month in Turkey are required to have a residence permit. This applies equally to exchange students who have to apply for a study visa before entering the country since the visa expires after 1 month and to those who need no visa.

To help you apply for your residence permit, one of the staff of Socrates Office will accompany you to the Police Office.

For the Residence Permit, you need to give the following to the Socrates Office;

• 4 passport size photos
• valid passport / ID card
• 1 Passport copy and a copy of the page containing the student visa
• Copy of a credit card (both side), to prove that you will be sent money in emergency.
• 70 YTL (approx. 35 €)
• A Turkish cell phone number. (It is easy and economical to buy a new SIM card for about 30YTL (approx. 15 €). You can buy 250 kontör (units) for 23YTL (approx. 10 €). The 3 main service providers in Turkey have shops at the campus)

Important:
If you move house any time after your initial registration in Police Office, please make sure you inform the Socrates Office of your new address immediately.
