Welcome to the Akdeniz University Department of Geological Engineering web site. Department of Geological Engineering was founded at the Akdeniz University in 14th april 1999. We are a dynamic and growing department with teaching and research activities in both traditional and emerging areas of the geological sciences. Our mission is to educate and conduct research in the disciplines of Geology. We are a group of 3 Professors, 4 Assistant Professors and 5 research assistants, approximately 12 graduate students and 194 undergraduate geology majors as well as office members. We prepare graduate students and undergraduate geology majors for careers in the Geological Engineering. The department offers a traditional undergraduate geology programme and graduate courses for MSc and Ph.D. degrees. Specific research areas in the department include active tectonics and earthquake geology, exploration of industrial and metallic deposits, petroleum geology, geological problems in urban planning and evaluation of groundwater resources.
